Macerator Toilet Service

Tecma, Master Flush

A macerating head grinds waste and pumps it to the holding tank. When it clogs, runs without moving anything, or stops running altogether, the problem is usually the macerator pump, the discharge path, or the electrical circuit that drives it.

Precision Marine services Tecma and Master Flush macerating systems across Chicago and the greater Chicagoland area, mobile or dockside.

Common macerator toilet problems

The pump runs but nothing moves. A worn or jammed macerator impeller, a blocked discharge line, or a failed joker valve at the outlet.

Repeated clogging. Macerators handle waste and marine tissue only. Wipes, paper towels, and hygiene products jam the cutting assembly, and a partially blocked discharge line clogs again and again until it is cleared properly.

The toilet will not run at all. A tripped breaker, a failed control switch or control board, a seized motor, or corroded wiring at the pump.

The motor runs slowly or draws hard. Worn bearings, a partially seized impeller, or low voltage reaching the pump.

Odor from the system. A dry or failed joker valve, a saturated vent filter, or permeated discharge hose.

Water fills the bowl on its own. A failed inlet solenoid or a siphon condition in the intake plumbing.

What service covers

Macerator pump and motor service and replacement. Impeller and cutting assembly inspection. Joker valve and outlet valve replacement. Discharge line clearing, inspection, and replacement. Inlet solenoid and water supply faults. Control switch, control board, and wiring diagnosis. Vent and odor troubleshooting through the whole system.

Why macerator systems fail

A macerating head is a simple machine asked to do an unpleasant job in a corrosive environment. The two most common causes of failure are things going into the bowl that should not, and discharge lines that have never been fully cleared. Scale builds inside discharge hose over years, narrowing the passage until an otherwise healthy pump cannot push through it.

Electrical faults are the other common cause. Pumps draw hard current in a damp compartment, and corroded connections at the pump are a frequent culprit when a system stops working.

FAQ

Why does my macerator run but not pump anything?

Usually a worn impeller, a jam in the cutting assembly, or a blockage in the discharge line. A failed joker valve at the outlet can also stop flow while the motor keeps running.

What can I put in a marine macerating toilet?

Waste and marine tissue only. Wipes, paper towels, and hygiene products are the most common cause of jams, including products labeled flushable.

My toilet clogs again a week after being cleared. Why?

The discharge line is probably still partially blocked or scaled. Clearing the immediate obstruction without addressing the line means the clog returns.

Can a macerator pump be rebuilt or does it need replacing?

It depends on what failed. Impellers and seals are serviceable items. A seized motor or corroded housing usually means replacement.

Do you service macerator toilets at the slip?

Yes. Precision Marine works mobile and dockside across Chicago and Chicagoland.
